Hawkit (NEWCASTLE Soft Handicap (Class 4) (3yo+,0-85) (1m2f32y) 1m2f 13ran)
Out the back early and through mid part of race. Eased to the outside as the field turned into the straight and asked to pickup the bit. Allowed to bide it's time between the 3f and 2f poles. Then asked to lengthen which he did making steady headway to join the leaders half a furlong out. Was a neck clear but in command when he was ambushed by the winner who came with a wet sail down his outside and had no time to respond. Best with give.
Topazes (NEWCASTLE Soft Handicap (Class 4) (3yo,0-85) 1m 11ran)
Restrained and soon last and remained until truning for home. Moving strongly on the outside. Packing field between the 3f-2f poles. Travelled strongly with the Spencer looking for a path through runners. Decided to switch inside and had to wait for a gap but found it i plenty of time. Progress and looked the likely winner but either declined to pass or more likely was out battled by winner. Anyway, this sort of performance will see trading at the sub 2.0 mark.
Loveinanelevator (DONCASTER Good To Firm Fillies' Handicap (Class 5) (3yo+,0-70) 7f 11ran)
Held up but travelling strongly. Around halfway the jockey appeared to take the view that he might have trouble finding a path through the bunched runner directly in front of him so he switched in behind to the other side of the field. Shaken up and ran on well but not quite able to reel in the winner. Her tactical speed should allow her to trade nice and low given similar race conditions.
