Sat 26 July

2.25 - Sonny Parkin - backed 36 - try to lay back at 16 - No problem, traded at 4.0 IR
2.40 york - Suzi´s Decision - back 3.75 (lay 1.87) - No good

3.05 asc - Fathsta - backed at 16.5 (will try to lay back at 8.2) Traded at 6.2 IR - OK
3.40 asc - Redford - Backed at 8.2 (7.6 after nr) (lay at 3.Cool - went down to 2.6 odd IR well below my 4.2 even after the 14.2% reduction after Lovelace withdraw

4.30 Newc - Annibale Caro B 8.0 L 4.0 - A NR changed prive to 7.4 - 3.6 was matched IR (not sure why though)
4.40 Newm - Spring dream - B 4.6 - L 2.3 - drifted out to 8.0 pre-race, but dropped to 1.7 IR for another return
5.30 Asco - Rubirosa B 8.2 - L 4.1 - backed into 5.0 pre-race - traded 2.6 IR so on my price I had a DOM if I had taken BFsp it would have failed

After day 1, from 7 trades at the prices I backed the selections I layed 6 of them IR at DOM prices which gives me a +5.0 (or 4.7 after comm) Profit on the day. Far too good a strike rate to match in the long term but nice start

Sunday 27th July

2.15 Ascot - John Terry - backed 34 - lay at 17.0 Went down to sub 10.0 IR so DOM is matched but unles his colours were confused with another I've no idea why it matched so low - missed the break and it usually Smile presses
2.30 Carl - Mandalay King - B 4.2, L 2.1 - My first winner - not that it matter to me, but it does mean my DOM bet is matched Smile

2.40 Pont - Sporting Gesture B 11.0, L 5.5 - with the NR we only had 8.6 and it traded down to 4.7 IR which was not quite enough. Sad
4.15 Carl - Zabeel Tower - B 8.2, L 4.1 - Only traded down to 5.0 IR Sad
5.20 Carl - Natural Rhythm - B 5.8, L 2.9 Another who tried to make all - far too free and never near the lay price Sad

Five bets with only two DOM's so minus 1.1 today

+ 3.6 after Comm after two days

Nice selection there Martin. I didn't see 12 but saw 11.5 easy, finished at 1.01 on my simple screen.
Pity I didn't take it on, anyone trading IR must have had a green there

Well done Very Happy

As I've mentioned in the trading forum it traded at 1.12 IR and my last lay was at 1.13 so I had a nice bit of green. But for the DOM trades it's just the 0.95 profit (5% comm deducted)

Review of the week:

So 18 trades of which 12 were matched IR - 66% strike rate
18 units staked 24 returned on which 12 had comission due at 5% = 0.6 units - profit of 5.4 units = 30% Return on investment (ROI)

Interestingly only one actually won at 4.2 so it would have been more profiable to have just layed them all!!!
Generally though I would expect more than just the one winner in 18 bets like this.

Martin

do you set one lay or a number of lays..

suppose you back say 50 at 12.0..then lay all the 100 at 6.0..

or lay more splitting the lay stake at various prices..

I'm not sure what the best strategy is..

Thanks

Pytelium,

I don't think there is a best strategy .. it varies for each runner.

For the DOM/DOB trades I'm sticking to laying back double the stake at half the odds only.

I might also put another bet on as well and then lay that back at an even lower value, but when I'm doing that I usually put those into the trading section.

I expect you've tried laying at an even lower value (than half) looking for more profit but have been disappointed when your price hasn't been matched, but the DOM/DOB price has - I know I have - usually when I'm chasing earlier losses (we all do it - if only we had the discipline).

One of the reasons I'm trying out the DOM/DOB approach in such a public way is to see if I can generate a consistent profit without the need to boost them with lower priced trades.
